Hoffmann trained as a theater director and studied stage directing and dramaturgy with Andrea Breth and Manfred Karge and cultural sociology with Wolfgang Engler at the Ernst Busch University for Dramatic Arts in Berlin (1994-1996), where he received his B.A.
He holds an M.A. from DasArts: School for Advanced Research in Theater and Dance Studies at the Amsterdam School for the Arts (1996-1998).
Hoffmann studied arts administration as an exchange student at New York University’s Department of Art and Art Professions (1996).
In 1980 Hoffmann started his elementary school education at the Colegio Alemán Alexander von Humboldt in Mexico City and visited the Freie Waldorf Schule Benefeld, a boarding school focused on the pedagogy of Rudolf Steiner near Hanover (1986-1990). He received his Abitur at the Freie Waldorf Schule Darmstadt near Frankfurt (1992).
